Here are the top 10 towns in Australia, as determined by Australian Traveller magazine in 2009 (the best of their top 100 towns). These towns were voted on by a panel of 12 well-travelled Australians, in response to the question: "Regardless of where the town is located, would you recommend a good friend drive an hour out of their way specifically to visit this town?"

Only towns with a population smaller than 45,000 were considered. We have been fortunate to visit many of these towns, and if we have not been there yet, they are now on our travel wish list!
