Low Isles

The Low Isles is a coral cay on the inner part of the great barrier reef .The islands were called the low isles by Captain James Cook as he passed by in about 1770. Nowdays, the island is a popular day trip from Port Douglas for snorkeling and lazing on the beach.

- snorkel the reef surrounding the island
- take a self guided walk along a path around the island
- laze on the beach
Getting There
- The Low Isles are close to Port Douglas, on the inner reef. If you have your own boat, you can make your own way there.
- There are a few companies that take groups out to the island daily, such as Quicksilver Wavedancer. They can pick you up from Port Douglas or Cairns hotels.
