Travel Guide to Las Vegas
Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
Why Go: No trip to the USA should be without a visit to the over the top action of Vegas. " Vegas" offers a vibrant mix of world-class entertainment, from dazzling shows and concerts to unique dining experiences that cater to every taste. The city's iconic nightlife and casinos provide endless excitement, making it a premier destination for thrill-seekers and party enthusiasts. Maybe you want to get married by Elvis? Beyond the glitz and glamour, Las Vegas is a gateway to stunning natural landscapes like the Grand Canyon and Red Rock Canyon, perfect for outdoor adventures.

Highlights:
- For the gambler, there is practically unlimited choices of places to gamble away your money, from high class casinos to seedy out of the way joints, they will all welcome you if you have some money
- For the sightseer, there is nothing better than wandering down the strip and soaking it all in. There is plenty of free entertainment put of by the major casinos.
- For the nightlife, there are world class shows on all over town. Keep an eye out for cheap last minute tickets from several places.
- The Freemont Street Experience is a spectacular overhead light display worth checking out if you have time. To get there, you can catch a bus downtown from the Strip.
Lowlights:
- Walking around Vegas is relatively safe, except for the constant hassle of people trying to sell you something, draw you into their place, or hand you a flyer on anything from god, sales and sex.
Sleeping, Eating & Drinking:
- There is cheap accommodation available if you look around, though have a look first as some may be pretty seedy. We used a voucher in a tourist magazine to get a good value place just off the strip.
- Great value all-you-can-eat buffets can be found at many of the casinos, and also fast food chains can be found all over.
- At some of the casinos they may supply you with drinks and food if you are gambling.
Other things you should know about:
- Also known as the 'City of Sin' for its gambling and sex trade.
We Visited: Clare and Rob spent a week here in May 2005, while Rob had a short visit 10 years earlier.
