Top 10 List:

What are the cheapest destinations for travellers from the US? In 2011 this was determined to be Bangkok, Thailand. This cheapest cities list was based on the calculations by TripAdvisor in their inaugural TripIndex. The list is a cost comparison of 50 key tourist cities from around the world, all tracked against the US dollar. The top 50 were selected based on the most number of international tourist arrivals. The lists are based on the combined cost of four core expenses: average cost of one night's stay in a four-star hotel, the cost of a pizza from an international chain where available, a dry martini from a top-rated 5-star hotel and an approximate cost of a 5 mile journey in a taxi in each destination.

If you decide to drink beer instead of a dry martini, you can save a few bucks in all these destinations. See also the most expensive cities based on the same calculations.
