Silverton

Silverton is a small almost ghost town in NSW, just 24 km's away from Broken Hill. It was a gold mine town before Broken Hill made it big.
It is a famous outback town which has been the setting of many TV shows and movies, such as Dirty Deeds, Mad Max II, Prescilla Queen of the Desert.
Things to do and places to see
- visit the Silverton Hotel, which has been in many movies
- stroll around the town's old buildings: Masonic Lodge, Art Galleries (John Dynon, Peter Brown), Historic Cemetery, Cafe, Churches, old Gaol.
- stay the night at Penrose Park camping and caravan park.
- take a camel ride aorund the area.
- Take an underground tour of the old "Day Dream" silver Mine - and experience life in a 19th century mine. This mine was abandoned in 1897.
