Parkes is a small town located in New South Wales. Named after Sir Henry Parkes. We visited Parkes on the way back from Dubbo in 1993, so some of these things may have changed. The major attraction is the radio telecope and is the main reason why many people make a trip to Parkes.

- Parkes Radio Telescope: not far up the road is the Radio Telescope made famous by the movie 'the dish'. It has a very interesting display about its history and the role it played in the moon landing.

- stop for something to eat: the town has the usual take away restaurants. At the telescope, there is a cafe that serves coffees and snacks.
