My USA Adventure - the diary

Previous Day : Day 3 : Next Day

Wednesday 31st May 1995

I can see why Americans are so fat. Everything here is so greasy. With the amount of junk food I am eating, I'm sure to put on heaps of weight.

My presentation went OK. Just glad to get it over with. Now I can enjoy myself (some more). Celebrate with some of the JB duty free. Good value that. My timing was spot on. Lots of questions, I tried answering one slowly, and palmed the others off without really saying anything. Got some good points from them though, and a couple of people have come up to me since the talk and spoken to me about it. Wasn't nervous at all. What a legend.

Minneapolis isn't such a bad place. After the first night I was a bit worried. The weather has been fantastic. The city center is very clean, the people seem friendly, the busses are quite handy, and it stays light until 9 pm or something. The phone system sucks. I thought I had better say something negative. They wanted $10 up front for 10 minutes. I wasn't going to pay that and speak to Monica's answering machine!

Fortune Cookie Says: The secret of friendship is to build bridges instead of walls.

They like their pickles here in Minnesota. "You want a pickle and chips with that?" Also got a free pickle with my burger at Hooters last night. What is a pickle anyway?

Been having a bit of trouble with the money over here. Main problem is that the dime is the smallest coin. I get it confused with the 5 cents. The identical dollar notes aren't too bad though

Quarter=25 cents
Dime=10 cents
Nickle=5 cents
Penny=1 cent
