The food of Tibet

These notes were made during a trip to South-East Asia. These are just our food experiences and you may have a totally different experience depending on your budget, where you travel and where you eat.

Tibetan Food

All of these soups can come in meat, vegetarian or egg options.

  • Moma - never tried these but they are deep fried, or steamed dough balls.

  • Thanthuk - a chilli clear broth soup with flat ravioli-like pasta pieces

  • Thukpa - a chilli clear broth soup with noodles

  • Gyathuk - as above but with spaghetti
