Toodyay is located approximately 85 kilometres east of Perth in the Avon Valley.

1. Avon Valley National Park - situated 23kms from Toodyay. The park has forests and granite outcrops with panoramic views of the Avon Valley.
2. Julimar State Forest - 28 600 hectares of extensive jarrah, marri and wandoo woodlands.
3. Historic Town Walk - stroll around town and see a fine collection of 19th century architecture. Youcan pick up the Stirling Terrace Self Guided Tour brochure from the tourist info centre.

• The name Toodyay is believed to be derived from an Aboriginal word ‘duidgee’ which means ‘place of plenty’, referring to the richness and fertility of the area and the reliability of the Avon River.
• Moondyne Joe made his first recorded escape from the old Toodyay lockup in 1861.
