Why Go:

This cottage was actually built and owned by Captain James Cook's parents, James and Grace. Originally built in 1755 in Yorkshire, England, but in 1933 purchased and transported to Australia.

Highlights:

  • Garden: a traditional English herb and vegetable garden
  • Rooms: the small cottage is decorated with period pieces which gives you an idea of how it may have been like to live there at the time James was a boy
  • Shop: The gift shop at the back of the cottage has details of James Cook's journeys and achievements.
