Places to see and things to do
- Walk along the strand with it's great view of Magnetic Island off the coast. The kids will love the water park.
- visit reefHQ - a large living coral reef aquarium.
- Hike up Castle Hill, take the goat's track for the more challenging route. There is a great view over the city and of Magnetic Island from the top.
- visit the Town Common Environmental Park, especially early morning or late afternoon, and see a great array of bird life.
- visit the Museum of Tropical Queensland
- wander down Flinders Mall, especially on Sunday when there is a market here.
- take a day trip to Magnetic Island.
- visit some of the gardens of Townsville: Queens Gardens, Townsville’s original botanic garden started in 1870, the Palmetum, and Anderson Park.
- Ride your bike along the tracks of the Ross River Parkway
