shell on the beach in Queensland

Last Visited:

Rob and Clare visited in 2003

Why Go:

Surfers Paradise is the vacation area less than a hour south of Brisbane. The beaches are long, and the weather great.

Highlights:

  • Beaches: It is best to visit the beach in the morning, as later in the day the shadows from the high rise buildings will start to creep across the beach. Shopping: after the beach, you should be ready to do some shopping
  • Nightlife: after the beaches and shopping, it is time to visit the numerous bars and restaurants.

Lowlights:

  • High rise city: late afternoon the shadows are cast over the beaches.
  • Lots of tourists

Eating & Drinking:

  • Heaps to choose from. The Hard Rock Cafe is a landmark place to eat.

Other things you should know about:

  • Surfers is a nice place to visit for a break if you are in the area, but there are plenty of nicer, more secluded beaches to be found along this coast.
