The town of Richmond is part of the Queensland dinosaur trail. Richmond is located approximately half way between Mt Isa and Townsville, on the Flinders River.
Places to see and things to do
- visit Kronosaurus Korner, where there is a great collection of marine fossils, also Minmi - Australia's best preserved dinosaur skeleton. The museum is well laid out and included in the entry price are handheld audio guides.
- get a map guiding you to the nearby free fossicking areas and look for your own fossils just out of town
- On the edge of town is the Lake Fred Tritton.
- Discover the unique properties of the moon rocks which are found throughout the region.
