Prairie is a small town on the Flinders Highway, located 200 kms from Charters Towers. Population about 50. It was an old Cobb & Co Coach change centre
Places to see and things to do
- have a drink at the Prairie Hotel, with its unique atmosphere. You may see a ghost if you are lucky (or unlucky!)
- take a drive to the nearby Koorooringa Falls nature reserve.
- 10km away there are remains of a WWII military site.
- Prairie was once famous for sausages, but they can now be found at the butcher in Hughenden.
- 65 kms way os the Porcupine Gorge.
