Cardwell is situated in Northern Queensland, north of Townsville.

- have a famous Carwell Pie, an institution for anyone passing though town. They are available from a van on the foreshore, you can't miss it..
- go up to Cardwell Lookout. There are three walking tracks and htree lookouts, that overlook Cardwell, Rockingham, Edmund Kenedy National Park, the Family Group of Islands, Hinchinbrook Island and Channel.
