Atherton is located in the Atherton Tablelands, in Northern Queensland.
Places to see and things to do
- walk or drive up Halloran Hill for a great view of the surrounding coutryside. The walk starts form the Environmental Park. There is a great kids playground here too.
- visit the Crystal Caves gem shop.
- Chinatown and the Hou Wang Temple.
- drive out to Hasties Swamp to go bird spotting fro the double story bird hide. This place is also called Nyleta Wetlands
- visit Gallo Dairyland, a dairy and cheese factory, as well as a cafe and chocolate factory. You may see the cows coming in for milking.
- drive to Mt Hypipamee Crater, a extinct volcano vent hole 124 m deep, and the nearby Dinner Falls.
