Katherine is a town of about 11000 located 317 km south of Darwin. There is a wide range of facilities and plenty for the tourist to do.

- Katherine Gorge (Nitmiluk National Park) is only 29 km from Katherine. It is a series of gorges, which you can take a scenic flight, canoe or take a cruise along, or walk to sections of it.
