We visited Parkes on the way back from Dubbo.

Why Go:

The radio telecope is really the only reason to make a trip to Parkes, unless you are traveling through anyway.

Highlights:

• Parkes Radio Telescope: There is not anything to see in the town, but not far up the road is the Radio Telescope made famous by the movie 'the dish'. It has a very interesting display about it's history and the role it played in the moon landing.

Lowlights:

• just a regular small NSW country town

Eating & Drinking:

• the town has the usual take away restaurants
• At the telescope, there is a cafe that serves nioce coffees and snacks
