The Ballina Prawnlocated in Ballina, New South Wales, Australia

Ballina is located on the far north coast of New South Wales. It's main claim to fame is the Big Prawn, a giant fibreglass crustacean which has sat atop a building for nearly 20 years.
In September 2009 the local council narrowly approved demolition of the town's icon.
It may not be gone from Australia's landscape completely, a Gold Coast Fishermen's Co-Operative has expressed interest in buying the attraction to promote its trawler-direct seafood outlet on the Southport Spit. Some locals don't want it to go, and may push for it to be sunk in the river as a dive site. This story is obviously not over yet.
